Case IH 856 XL Turbo Plus – Technical Specifications and Engine
The Case IH 856 XL Turbo Plus tractor is an 85-horsepower (63 kW) agricultural machine equipped with an IH 4-cylinder engine (DT239) with a displacement of 3.920 liters. The engine is turbocharged and water-cooled, operating at a nominal speed of 2300 rpm and delivering a maximum torque of 309 Nm at 1600 rpm.
The 856 XL features a dual dry clutch (for forward drive and PTO) with a diameter of 305 mm and comes standard with a gearbox offering 4 ranges and 4 speeds—providing 16 forward gears and 8 reverse gears.
In the four-wheel-drive version, the IH 856 XL is equipped with a ZF front axle of type APL335. This front axle is a multi-disc unit with electro-hydraulic control, is self-locking, and includes a 2-speed power take-off.
The 856 XL is fitted with internal disc brakes operated hydraulically; the parking brake is cable-operated, and the trailer brake is hydraulic.
This agricultural tractor also features a rear PTO with two speed ranges (540 and 1000 rpm).

Often regarded as the little brother of the IH 1056 XL, the Case IH 856 XL is a robust and reliable tractor. Although its power is slightly lower, it benefits from the same build quality, offering performance and versatility well suited for small and medium-sized farms.
