Founded in 1948 by Pierre Naud in Andrezé, Maine-et-Loire, the Naud company has long been a key player in the agricultural plough sector in France. Renowned for the quality and robustness of its equipment, Naud has established itself as a market leader, with an estimated market share of 17% in 2000, making the company the third largest plough manufacturer in France at that time.

A company full of pitfalls

Despite its apparent success, Naud ran into difficulties in the early 2000s, marked by a depressed market and internal tensions between the family shareholders. In 2001, Naud was forced to file for bankruptcy, and the company was placed under a continuation plan on November 7 of the same year. Jean-Michel Gourdon, former head of Renault Agriculture, took over the reins of Naud in March 2000 with the mission of turning the company around.

Under Gourdon's leadership, Naud merged its commercial and industrial entities, and signed a strategic agreement with Italian brand Omarv for the distribution of shredders. These efforts enabled the company to post sales growth, from 6.8 million euros in 2001 to 10 million euros in 2003. However, despite these encouraging results, the company was placed into compulsory liquidation by the Angers Commercial Court on March 31, 2004, marking the end of an era for this historic company.
