Understanding the dimensions of a tractor inner tube

Understanding the dimensions of a tractor inner tube is essential to ensure you choose the right model for your tires. Here's how to interpret these dimensions:

1. Tire Diameter:

   • The first part of the dimension number usually indicates the tire diameter. For example, in a size 16.9-34, "34" indicates the diameter in inches of the rim on which the tire is to be mounted.

2. Tire width:

   • The first number or series of numbers before the dash represents the tire width in inches. In our example 16.9-34, "16.9" refers to the width of the tire.

3. Tire profile:

   • In some cases, a third number may be present, indicating the tire profile ratio (sidewall height as a percentage of width). However, this measurement is not always indicated in tractor tire dimensions.

4. Valve type:

   • The inner tube may also specify the type of valve (e.g. straight valve, angled valve) that is required depending on the tire and rim design.

5. Compatibility with tire size:

   • It's crucial to select an inner tube that is compatible with the size of your tractor tires. An inner tube that's too small can stretch and break, while one that's too large can bend or pinch, causing air leaks.

6. Additional advice:

   • It's always advisable to consult your tractor manual or a professional to make sure that the tube you choose matches your tractor's tire specifications.
   • Also check the tube's load capacity and maximum air pressure to make sure it's suitable for your farming needs.

In summary, choosing the right tube requires knowing the precise dimensions of your tractor tires and understanding how these translate into tube size. This ensures optimum performance and safety of your farm equipment.

Choosing the right tube for your ride-on mower or micro tractor

When it comes to ride-on lawnmower tractors, there are several factors to consider when choosing the right inner tube. First of all, the size of the inner tube must match that of your tractor's tire. This is usually indicated in millimeters or inches, and includes width, inner diameter and outer diameter.

The type of valve is another criterion to consider. You can opt for a straight or angled valve, depending on the accessibility of the valve on your machine.

Lastly, the quality of the inner tube is crucial to its lifespan. For this reason, give preference to tubes made of resistant rubber to guarantee a better seal and resistance to temperature variations.

Criteria for choosing an agricultural inner tube (7.50-16, 16 inches)

The criteria for choosing a 7.50-16, 16-inch agricultural inner tube are similar to those mentioned above, but there are a few specifics to be aware of.

Firstly, the type of valve is crucial. TR15 valves are commonly used for these sizes. Their larger diameter makes inflation and deflation easier.

Secondly, the quality of the manufacturing material is also important. Some inner tubes are made from butyl, a highly resistant synthetic rubber. It offers greater resistance to aging, tearing and abrasion.

Finally, compatibility with other tire sizes can be a decisive factor. Some 7.50-16 tubes are also compatible with other tire sizes, offering greater flexibility when needed.

We recommend that you always check these criteria before buying, to ensure the best performance and durability of your farm equipment.

How do I change an inner tube on a tractor tire?

To change the tube in a tractor tire, first deflate the tire completely and remove it from the rim using a tire lever. Once the tire is removed, you can access the inner tube. Remove the old tube, paying particular attention to the valve. Make sure you note its position so you can install the new tube correctly.

Before installing the new tube, check that it is compatible with your tractor's tire and rim size. Next, place the tube in the tire, aligning the valve with the hole in the rim. Once the tube is in place, you can put the tire back on the rim and inflate it to the recommended pressure.

Throughout this procedure, use the appropriate tools such as a valve lever, tire lever, rubber mallet, pliers and air pump to facilitate the work and prevent potential damage to the tube and tire. Take care to avoid pinching the new tube during installation.

Repairing an inner tube: patches and valves

To repair a tractor inner tube, you'll need two essential items: patches and a valve.

Patches are repair parts for punctures and air leaks. They are available in different sizes to suit the extent of the damage. To use a patch, first locate the leak, then apply a liquid vulcanizing solution to ensure a perfect bond between the patch and the inner tube.

The valve, on the other hand, is a crucial element in the inner-tube inflation and deflation system. Straight or angled valves are available, depending on the accessibility of the valve on your machine.

When repairing, don't forget to use the appropriate tools, such as a valve lever, tire iron, rubber mallet, pliers and air pump.

Finally, you can also opt for complete repair kits which include all the parts needed to repair an inner tube.

How heavy is a tractor tire?

The weight of a tractor tire varies according to its size and type. For example, a tractor tire size 18.4-38 weighs on average between 180 and 225 kg, depending on the tire's specific construction and design. It is therefore essential to check the manufacturer's specifications for precise information on the weight of your tractor tire. And don't forget that tire weight can have an impact on tractor performance, especially in terms of traction and fuel consumption.

What is the diameter of a tractor tire?

The diameter of a tractor tire is generally expressed in inches, and varies according to tractor size and model. For example, a 9.5 x 24 tractor tire has a diameter of 24 inches. This diameter refers to the size of the rim on which the tire is mounted. Knowing the diameter of your tractor tire is crucial to choosing the right tube. For example, for a tire with a diameter of 16 inches, a 6.00-16 tube would be appropriate. Note that tube dimensions are also expressed in inches.
