STARTER CROWN TRACTOR CASE MXM175

The starting ring gear, also called ring gear, is an integral part of the starting system of internal combustion engines, including those in tractors. It is fixed around the edge of the flywheel and is made up of a series of teeth.

When you operate the start key, the engine starter engages with the starter ring gear. This interaction between the starter and the ring gear transfers mechanical force from the starter to the flywheel, which turns the crankshaft and starts the engine.

The starting ring gear is often made of hardened steel to withstand the mechanical and thermal stresses associated with the engine starting process. It must be robust to resist wear due to repeated starter engagement.

Maintaining the starter ring gear mainly involves checking its condition during regular engine overhauls. Excessive wear or visible damage to the ring gear teeth may affect proper engine starting operation. In such cases, it is recommended to replace the starter ring gear to avoid starting problems.

A damaged starter ring gear can cause starting difficulty, unusual noises when trying to start, or even damage to the starter. It is therefore essential to maintain this component in good condition to ensure reliable starting of the tractor engine.
